Biz Tip: Batch It Out
I first heard about "Batch Days" from Nora Conrad one day on Periscope (she's also the one who inspired me to pursue becoming a VA!)
It became a constant struggle trying to find the time to blog for southerngritsandgraces.com and build / run my wedding planning site, but I was determined to do both. My original plan had been to block out the first Saturday of every month to get my work done for each site. I did it for a while and believe me, it worked! Once I started working a part time job, that scheduled had to adjust, but I do love to batch as much as I can. Now that I am running The Social Walker full time, I'm working on my new schedule for batching!
So what does "Batch Day" even mean? Its the day you get all your work or tasks done. Sit down one day and write down all the things you need to do for that month (or the following month). Then pick one day where you have a good chunk of free time and just start tackling that list. Batch it by project too! Do you write better in the AM and can crank out those graphics later in the day? Then do it! Don't stop and start different things on Batch Day. Get it done.
You may have to split your batch days up by project if, like I used to, you work a full time job.
For example, the first Monday of every month can be spent writing / outlining blog posts for the month. Tuesday is graphics day and Wednesdays, you just post the blog and push it to Social Media. Why is this a great way to get things done? I don't know about you, but when I get in writing mode, I can pump out some content! But stopping to create graphics along the way slows my writing mojo. You can also batch your social media out as well! The last Friday of every month, go a head and schedule your social media and then add in your blog graphics as you go.
Saw this on A Cup of Content's Instagram and just had to share it (with permission of course!). Try your hardest not to let anything get scheduled over your batch day.
You'll be surprised how much you can get done on Batch Day! So pick a day and get to it!
